Part of the local economy first

A resort on the edge of a tiger reserve is part of a local economy long before it is a destination. Most of our team is from Ramnagar and the villages around it, and that is deliberate rather than convenient.

Hiring locally

We hire for attitude and train for skill across most front-of-house and housekeeping roles, with a strong preference for candidates from Ramnagar and the surrounding villages. New joiners are paired with someone who has been here for years for the first three months. Several of our supervisors started at the front desk or in housekeeping.

Buying locally

Produce, dairy and a good share of our dry goods come through Ramnagar rather than being trucked from a metro. It is fresher, it is cheaper, and the money stays in the belt. The Kumaoni section of our menu exists partly because the ingredients for it are grown within an hour of the gate.

Working with naturalists

Our safari desk works with registered local naturalists, not with whoever is standing at the gate. They are the people who grew up reading these forests, and they are also the ones who will tell a guest honestly that a sighting is unlikely today.

What we could do better

This page is more useful if it is honest. Areas we are actively working on: a formal skills programme for hospitality roles in the nearby villages, better representation of women across departments where hospitality in this belt historically has not, and a measurable local-sourcing target rather than a general intention.
