What sharing a fence with a tiger reserve means
A responsibility before it is a marketing line. These are the rules we do not bend.
No pets on the property
We share a boundary with protected forest. Domestic animals at a reserve edge are a genuine disease and disturbance risk, so this one is not negotiable.
Low, warm boundary lighting
Bright white light at a forest edge disrupts nocturnal movement. Lighting on the boundary side is kept low and warm for that reason rather than for atmosphere.
Waste kept inaccessible
Managed so that nothing edible can be reached from outside the fence. A resort that feeds wildlife, deliberately or not, changes its behaviour.
No feeding, including langurs
Guests are asked not to feed anything on the property, however entertaining it seems at the time.
Local sourcing
Produce and dairy come through Ramnagar rather than a metro supply chain. Fresher, cheaper, and the money stays in the belt.
Honest guiding
Our naturalists will tell you a sighting is unlikely rather than chase an animal for a tip. Pressure on wildlife for a photograph is a conservation problem, not a service one.
Where we are honest about the gaps
Sustainability pages tend to overclaim. Ours should not. These are things we have not yet measured or published, and they matter more than the list above:
- Water. A pool and forty-eight rooms in the Himalayan foothills use a lot of water. We have no published figure and should have one.
- Energy. No renewable generation on site yet. Solar is viable across nine acres and is worth costing.
- Single-use plastic. Bottled water in rooms is the obvious target. Filtered dispensers and glass bottles are the standard answer.
- Measurement. Nothing above is currently audited. An independent assessment would let us publish figures rather than intentions.
Build note
- This page deliberately states what is not yet done. That is more credible than a list of generic commitments, and corporate bookers with ESG requirements read it closely.
- Replace each gap with a figure and a date as the work happens.
