Planning a Corbett destination wedding: a twelve-month timeline

A destination wedding in Corbett is logistically simpler than most couples fear and harder in a few specific places nobody warns them about. This is the order things need to happen in.

Twelve to eighteen months out: dates and venue

Peak Corbett dates, broadly November through February, get held twelve to eighteen months ahead. If your date is fixed by a family calendar, start now. If it is flexible, consider the shoulder months and the monsoon seriously — a March or August wedding at a green, quiet property costs meaningfully less and the photographs are arguably better.

Do the site visit before you commit. Walk both lawns. Stand where the mandap will go and look at what is behind it.

Ten months out: the guest list, honestly

The number that matters is not how many attend a function but how many need a bed. Residential capacity here is roughly 120 to 140 across forty-eight rooms depending on the mix. Functions themselves hold several hundred across the lawns and hall. If your resident list exceeds capacity, we arrange rooms nearby — but that needs planning, not a phone call in month eleven.

Eight months out: the buy-out decision

Either you take the property or you do not, and it changes the whole weekend. A buy-out means no other guests, exclusive pool and grounds, and nobody checking in next to your sangeet. It also means paying for forty-eight rooms whether or not you fill them, so the arithmetic only works past a certain guest count. We will run it with you honestly rather than pushing the bigger contract.

Six months out: catering and the tasting

Catering is in-house, which removes an entire category of coordination problems. Book the tasting and bring the people whose opinions will actually be listened to, which is usually not the couple. Decide Jain, vegan and allergy requirements now — a kitchen can cook anything given notice and almost nothing given none.

Five months out: decor, sound and the cue sheet

Lock the layout of each function so nothing gets redesigned in week two. Ask about local sound regulations now rather than at eleven the night of the sangeet: amplified sound in open areas has a stop time, it is enforced, and every venue in this belt is subject to it.

Three months out: travel and logistics

Send guests the route, the train options and a realistic drive time. Most of your list will underestimate the Delhi to Hapur stretch and arrive late and irritable if you do not warn them. If you want safari slots for guests, collect ID details now.

One month out: the run sheet

Your event manager produces a written run sheet covering setup times, meal timings and who is doing what. Read it properly. This is the document that prevents the arguments.

One piece of advice

Build in time that is not scheduled. The best weddings we host have a genuinely empty afternoon on day two, where guests swim, sleep or sit under a tree doing nothing. That afternoon is what people remember, and it is always the first thing a packed itinerary deletes.
